My way of looking into subjects is similar to a research scientist fascinated with a dissected human. I have had the rare opportunity to actually study and sketch dissected cadavers, so this has come through in my work. The examination of humans in this way made me realize the fragility of the human form. I attempt to recreate the human form to express this fragility.

Never-ending bombardment of gross shallowness and accepted levels of cruelty steadily rising, I find myself searching for what continues to make us human. Physical atrocities seem to become an acepted part of the social landscape. My ideas are fueled by a growing discontent with the way we treat ourselves. Horrifically, there is a growing acceptance of cruelty; as if the value of human life is decreasing. I attempt to show this gross side of humanity in my sculpture and drawings.

My images have a function. They function as emblems of what I cannot control. In the same way that tribal societies make objects to put a face on or symbolize their fears, I make my art. Recently the subject matter of my work was about my empathy for and rage towards specific violent men that women in my life have encountered. The work has developed in the influence of great sculptors such as Camille Claudel, Jean Tinguely, Niki De Saint Phalle, and the outsider artist Henry Darger.
